MSWA Programs
MSWA aims to empower MSW students at CSUF through community, peer support, and professional development. We offer opportunities for students to network, gain experience, and connect.
COMMUNITY EVENTS (OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS)
Throughout the year, MSWA hosts various events to provide students with space to find community and seek support. Community events include social outings, co-working sessions, study halls, community service programs, professional development workshops, panels, and more. Check our Events Page for details on our next event and ways to stay updated on upcoming events. While MSWA events are open to all students, RSVP for limited-capacity events may be available to MSWA members first. We hope to see you at our next event!
PEER MENTOR PROGRAM (MSWA MEMBERS) — CLICK HERE TO APPLY
Our peer mentor program pairs new students with advanced-standing students. New students receive guidance and support, and mentors have an opportunity to share lessons learned from previous years in the program. It’s an excellent experience for both parties and looks great on a resume!
COHORT REPRESENTATIVE PROGRAM (MSWA MEMBERS) — CLICK HERE TO APPLY
Cohort representatives act as liaisons between the executive board and the students in their respective cohorts. They communicate information about MSWA programs and events to students and ensure their cohorts have a voice in MSWA decisions. Representatives can attend board meetings and give input on MSWA decisions. Serving as a cohort representative looks great on a resume and acts as a pipeline for leadership.
MSWA DISCORD SERVER (MSWA MEMBERS)
To increase connection across the cohorts, MSWA hosts a Discord server where students from different cohorts can connect! It’s a great place to ask questions and find support. The server also acts as a place where MSWA can communicate directly to members, so those who join will be the first to learn about upcoming programs and events.
MSWA RESOURCE AND SELF-CARE DRIVES (MSWA MEMBERS)
MSWA Members will receive a link to access a Google Drive that contains various resources that other members have found helpful during their time in the program (e.g., intervention worksheets, organizational tools, etc.). If you are a member, contact us for a link to access the drive.
“TUFF TALKS”: MSWA INTERVIEW SERIES (OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS)
MSWA plans to launch an interview series where we speak with advanced-standing students, alums, faculty, and other social work professionals to provide insight on navigating life as a graduate student and building a career. YouTube channel coming soon!
OTHER PROGRAMS AND SUGGESTIONS
MSWA is currently developing other programs, so stay tuned! These potentially include MSWA acting as a student advisory board to share anonymous student feedback with the social work department, MSWA apparel giveaways, and more. If you have suggestions for programs or events, please let us know! You can email us at mswa.csufullerton@gmail.com, use the submission box on our Contact Page, or DM our Instagram (@mswacsuf).
